Lake Taupo

Taupo, located in the North Island of New Zealand, is the large volcanic lake in the world. When you get there you can face this challenge...

Taupo

It's not that easy!! You have to reach the small platform in the middle of the lake....
He was trying hard but didn't do it! Trust me, I was there!

Closing the New Zealand fashion week...

Pamela Anderson was the highlight at the catwalk as the New Zealand fashion week comes to an end in Auckland today.

New Zealand Prime Minister

John Key is our Prime Minister and also the Tourism Minister. He was in New York this week to the UN meeting and took some time to go to the 'Late show'. David Letterman is the host and the programme has an audience of about 4 million people/night! The idea was to promote New Zealand and we beleive taht he did a good job despite the fact that he was a bid nervous as you can see in the video.

South Island of New Zealand

The views you get while traveling in the South Island of New Zealand are simply breathtaking!! I took this when I was there last winter!

Muriwai Beach

One of the most beautiful beaches in New Zealand: Muriwai Beach. It's only a 50-minute drive from downtown Auckland. You go there to see the fantastic colony of gannets!

Auckland

By Deanna:
"Darling! How are you mwuah mwuah !" There will be more happy squeals and air kisses at the Viaduct this week than any other week. Why? Because its Air New Zealand Fashion Week 2009 - Mon 21st Sept 2009 to Sat 26th 2009. This is THE place to be if you love anything fashion, designers and shopping!! You can get tickets to watch established or new and emerging fashion designers showcase their amazing lines...
But the best of all in my opinion if you like a bargain or two like me...is the New Zealand Herald Designer Garage Sale. Imagine more than 40 fashion designers lines on sale in one place. Shopping heaven!

The Aussies are coming!

New Zealand experienced a 37 per cent increase in Australians when compared with August 2008 last year. Many believe that the stimulus package put in place by the Australian government was the main reason for the increase in Australian arrivals.  It was a AUS $950 payout! Without it many travellers would not have travelled overseas this year.

Also the fact that trans Tasman air route are much cheaper than last years, combined with the favourable exchange rate as the likely stimulus for the sharp increase in arrivals.

They are more than welcome!!

Kea

Have you guys seen a Kea before? It's an endemic bird found in the South Island of New Zealand.
It's the only parrot in the world which doesn't mind living in cold areas. You can find them walking on the snow during the cold winters that we have in the south!
If you rent a car and are heading to the magnificent Milford Sound, be careful!! That's how they spending their time: 'attacking' your car!
